RECEDING GUMS

WHAT IS IT?

Due to traumatic brushing or the accumulation of bacterial plaque (tartar) the gingiva may retract. The teeth have gingival recessions, showing part of the root.

As a consequence, patients may experience hypersensitivity to cold. In addition, it can present caries in the roots, aesthetic problems due to too long teeth or difficulty in brushing due to discomfort in the gum.

FAQ

CAN RECESSIONS BE TREATED?

The teeth that present recessions (receding gums) can be treated, in most cases, by gum grafts or other synthetic substitutes.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN COLOR OR AESTHETICS AFTER THE TREATMENT?

When performing minimally invasive treatments with a microscope or magnifying glasses, the aesthetic results are optimal. Over time there are no differences in color between the grafted gingiva and that of the adjacent teeth.

IS THE TREATMENT OF RECESSIONS PAINFUL?

All recession treatments are treated with microsurgical instruments and with microsurgical sutures. This helps a better healing and a postoperative with slight discomfort.
