Dr Álvaro Blasi qualified by the American Board of Prosthodontics

Dr Álvaro Blasi has obtained this year the Diploma from the American Board of Prosthodontics. This certificate is the maximum accreditation that a prosthodontist can obtain by performing four rigorous exams and after having made a full-time official residence of 3 years in the United States. Dr. Alvaro Blasi studied the prosthodontics program at the prestigious public university of Augusta University, Dental College of Georgia, being the only international resident in a total course of 3 students per year.

The American Academy of Prosthodontics states: “The mission of the American Board of Prosthodontics is to certify people who have demonstrated special knowledge and skills in prosthetics.”

By obtaining this title, Dr. Blasi, becomes the only prosthodontist in Spain to have double certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics and National Board for Cerification in Dental Laboratory Technology

The National Board for Cerification in Dental Laboratory Technology states: “The objective of the CDT exam is to measure the competence of a predetermined body of knowledge and the skills that are considered representative of the successful professional practice of dental technology. To become a CDT, a technician must demonstrate their knowledge and applied skills in their chosen specialty. ”

The definition of a prosthodontist according to the American Academy of Prosthodontics: ‘A prosthodontist is a dentist who has completed a bachelor’s degree in dentistry plus an additional three years of advanced training and education in a graduate program in prosthodontics accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). . They specialize in the treatment and management of dental and facial problems that involve the restoration of lost tooth structures and jaws. A prosthodontist is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dental prostheses, temporomandibular disorders and more.

Less than 1% of dentists in the United States are Board Certified Prosthodontists. In Spain as of 2019, there are only two prosthodontists with this title.
